Good News Translation
Her Temple was as empty as a wilderness; her festivals were turned into days of mourning, her Sabbath joy into shame. Her honor became an object of ridicule.

Her sanctuary became desolate like a desert; her feasts were turned into mourning, her sabbaths into a reproach, her honor into contempt.

Contemporary English Version
The temple was barren just like a desert, and its festivals and Sabbaths became times of sorrow and of shame. Jerusalem had lost all respect.
