Judith 8:25
Good News Translation
The Lord our God is putting us to the test, just as he tested our ancestors, and we should be thankful for that.

In spite of everything let us give thanks to the Lord our God, who is putting us to the test as he did our ancestors.

Even though things are difficult, we should thank the Lord our God. He is testing us to see how faithful we are, just as he tested our ancestors long ago.

As for us therefore let us not revenge ourselves for these things which we suffer.

But esteeming these very punishments to be less than our sins deserve, let us believe that these scourges of the Lord, with which like servants we are chastised, have happened for our amendment, and not for our destruction.
