Sirach 47:4
Good News Translation
When he was still a boy, he killed a giant to rescue his people. He put a stone in his sling, took aim, and put an end to Goliath's bragging.

New Revised Standard Version
In his youth did he not kill a giant, and take away the people’s disgrace, when he whirled the stone in the sling and struck down the boasting Goliath?

Contemporary English Version
When David was a boy, he put a stone in his sling and swung it around. Then he let the stone fly, and it brought down Goliath, the giant whose boasting had put Israel to shame.

As a youth he struck down the giant and wiped out the people’s disgrace; His hand let fly the slingstone that shattered the pride of Goliath.
