Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves Christ and those Who are born of Him - Christian believers.
By this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and obey His commands. Loving God means keeping His commands; and His command are not burdensome.
For whoever is born of God overcomes the world; and it is our faith that gives us this victory that overcomes the world.
Who, then, are they that overcome the world? Only they that believe that Jesus is the Son of God?
This is He Who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water (the water of baptism at the beginning of His earthly ministry) and blood (that He shed on the cross to cleanse us from our sins at the close of His earthly ministry). And it is the Spirit that confirms it with His testimony, because the Spirit is truth.
For there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these Three are One.
And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one.
If we accept and believe the testimony of men, surely the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God which He has testified regarding His Son.
Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony; whoever does not believe God is calling God a liar, because they have not believed the testimony that God has given about His Son.
And this is that testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
Whoever has the Son has life; and whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life.
These things I have written to you that believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
And this is the confidence that we have when we approach Him: that if we ask for anything that is according to His will, He hears us.
And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we also know that He will give us what we ask for.
If you see any brother or sister commit a sin which does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give that person life. I am speaking of sins that are not unto death. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying that you should all pray about that.
All wrongdoing is sin, but not every sin leads to death.
We know that anyone born of God does not willfully continue to sin, but He that is born of God keeps them safe; and that evil one (Satan) cannot harm them.
And we know that we are children of God, and that thee whole world is under the control of that Satan
And we also know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him Who is true, by being in His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and eternal life.
Little children, keep yourselves from idols – anything that might take God’s place in your hearts. Amen. Easy Reader Bible: Purple Letter Edition © 2023 by Jim Musser. Used by Permission. All rights Reserved. Bible Hub |
