2 Corinthians 9

1I really have no need to write to you about this ministry of giving for believers in Jerusalem. 2For I know your eagerness to help, for which I boast of you to those of Macedonia, telling them that since last year, you in Achaia were ready to give; and your enthusiasm has stirred many into action. 3But I have sent the brothers in order that our boasting of you should not prove hollow in this matter, that you may be ready, as I said you would be, 4For if any from Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we would be ashamed for having been so confident in our boasting. 5And so I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you in advance and make final arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. But I want it to be a willing gift – and not one given grudgingly.

6But remember this: whoever sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and whoever sows bountifully (generously) shall reap also bountifully. 7Each of you must decide in your heart how much to give, so let him give; not grudgingly, or out of obligation; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to bless you, so that you always have all that you need; that you may abound in every good work; 9As it is written, “He has dispersed (scattered) abroad; He has given to the poor; His righteousness remains (endures) forever” (Ps.112:9). 10Now He that provides seed to the farmer and bread for your food, will also multiply the seed you have sown, and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be enriched in everything so that you can be generous on all occasions, and through us, your generosity will yield thanksgiving to God. 12For this service you provide not only supplies the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanksgivings to God; 13Because, as a result of your ministry, they will glorify God for your generosity and obedience that accompanies your profession of faith in the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution to them, and to all men, 14And by their prayers for you, with deep affection, because of the exceeding grace of God that evident in you. 15Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift!
