9Many Jews heard that He was there; and they came - not for Jesus' sake only, but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 10So then the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus, 11Because so many Jews came and saw Lazarus, and believed in Jesus.

12The next day, when many heard that Jesus was going to Jerusalem for the Passover, 13They took branches of palm trees, and went out to meet Him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel Who comes in the name of the Lord.” 14And Jesus found a young donkey, sat upon it; fulfilling the prophecy as written (Zechariah 9:9): 15“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt”. 16At first, His disciples did not understand all this; but only after Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that these things had been done to Him. 17The people that were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, continued to spread the word. 18This was the reason that so many people went out to meet Him; for they heard that He had performed this miracle. 19So then the Pharisees said to each other, “Don’t you see that we are not prevailing? Look, the whole world has gone after Him.”

20And there were certain Greeks among them that had come up to worship at the feast. 21They approached Philip, who was of Bethsaida, of Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we would like to meet Jesus”. 22Philip went and told Andrew; and then he and Andrew told Jesus. 23And Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified. 24Very truly, I tell you, ‘Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a seed; but if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25Those who love their life shall lose it; but whoever disregards their life in this world, shall keep it for eternal life. 26Whoever serves Me must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant shall also be. My Father will honor any man who serves Me. 27Now My soul is deeply troubled; and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour?’ No! It was for this reason I have come to this hour. 28Father, glorify Your name!”. Then there came a voice from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.” 29The crowd of people standing there heard it. Some said that it thundered; while others said, “An angel spoke to Him.” 30Jesus said, “This voice did not come for My benefit, but for yours. 31Now is the time for judgment of this world; now the prince of this world shall be driven out. 32And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Me.” 33He said this, signifying what kind of death He would die. 34The people responded to Him, “We have heard out of the Law that Christ (the Messiah) will live forever; so how can You say, “The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?” 35Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have My light with you just a little while. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you; for whoever walks in darkness does not know where they are going. 36While you have light, believe in the light, that you may become the children of light.” After He spoke these things, Jesus departed, and hid himself from them.

37But even though He had done so many miracles in their presence, they still did not believe in Him; 38That what Isaiah, the prophet, had said might be fulfilled, “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” (Isaiah 53:1) 39For this reason, they could not believe, because, as Isaiah had said elsewhere, 40“He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.” (Isaiah 6:9-10) 41Isaiah said this when he saw His glory, and spoke of Him. 42Even so, many among the chief rulers believed in Him; but because of the Pharisees, they did not openly confess (acknowledge) Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; 43For they loved the approval of men more than the praise of God. 44Jesus shouted to the crowd, “Whoever believes in Me, believes not in Me, but in Him Who sent Me. 45And when you see Me, you see Him Who sent Me. 46I have come into the world as a light, that whoever believes in Me should not remain in darkness. 47And if anyone hears My words, and does not believe them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. 48But all that reject Me, and reject My words, have one that will judge them - the word that I have spoken, that is what shall judge them in the last day. 49For I have not spoken of My Own authority; but of the Father Who sent Me has commanded Me to say what I have spoken. 50And I know that His command leads to eternal life; so whatever I speak, it is just what the Father has told Me to say.”
