1The first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early, when it was yet dark, to the tomb (sepulcher), and she saw the stone rolled away from the entrance. 2Then she came running to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord away, out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him. 3And so Peter and that other disciple rushed to the tomb. 4They both ran; and the other disciple outran Peter, and reached the tomb first. 5And as he stooped down, and looked in, he saw the linen clothes lying; but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came and went into the sepulcher, and saw the linen clothes lying there, 7And the cloth, that had been wrapped around His head, not lying with the other linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw, and believed. 9For at that point they still did not understand the scripture, that Jesus must rise again from the dead. 10Then these two disciples went back to where they were staying.

11But Mary continued standing outside of the tomb, crying; and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the tomb, 12And she saw two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, of where the body of Jesus had lain. 13And they asked her, “Dear woman, why are you crying?” She said, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him”. 14And as she said this, she turned around, and saw Jesus standing there, but did not realize that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, “Dear woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking for?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have borne Him from here, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary”. She turned toward Him, and said to Him, “Rabboni”; which is Hebrew for, “Master”. 17Jesus said, “Do not touch Me; for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers, and tell them that I am ascending to My Father, and to your Father; to My God, and your God. 18Mary Magdalene went and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had told her these things.

19Then that evening, it being the first day of the week, when the disciples were assembled, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus suddenly stood in their midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you”. 20And after He said that, He showed them His hands and His side. Then were the disciples overjoyed, when they saw the Lord. 21Then Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; as My Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you”. 22And with that, He breathed on them, and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit; 23Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven; and whoever’s sins you retain, they are not forgiven.” 24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus appeared. 25So later the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord”. But he said, “Unless I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe”.

26And eight days later, with His disciples again inside with the doors locked shut, Thomas now being with them; Jesus again suddenly stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you”. 27Then He said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and examine My hands; and put your hand here into My side; and be no longer doubtful, but believing.” 28And Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God”. 29Then Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those that have not seen, and yet still have believed.”

30And many other miracles Jesus truly did in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name.
