3And Jesus was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, and as He sat eating, there came a woman with an alabaster box (jar) of very expensive ointment of spikenard; and she broke the box (jar), and poured the ointment on His head. 4And there were some that were had indignant, and said, “Why was this ointment wasted? 5It might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and have been given to the poor”. And they murmured against her. 6And Jesus said, “Let her alone; why are you troubling her? She has done a good deed on Me. 7For the poor you will always have with you, and whenever you wish, you may do them good; but Me you will not always have. 8She has done what she could; she has come beforehand to anoint My body for My burial. 9 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she has done shall be spoken of, for a memorial of her.”

10And then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray Jesus to them. 11And they were delighted when they heard it, and promised to give him money. And he watched for an opportunity to betray Him.

12And on the first day of unleavened bread, when it was customary to kill the Passover lamb, His disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to go and prepare the Passover meal for You?” 13And He sent two of His disciples out, and said to them, “Go into the city, and there you shall encounter a man carrying a pitcher of water; follow him. 14And wherever he goes in, say you to the owner of the house he enters, “The Master asks, ‘Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’ 15And he will show you a large upper room, that is already furnished and prepared; that is where you should prepare our meal for us.” 16And His disciples went into the city, and found things just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover. 17And in the evening Jesus came with the twelve. 18And as they sat and ate, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, one of you who is eating with Me shall betray Me.” 19And they were saddened and began to ask Him, one by one, “Is it I?” And another said, “Surely You don’t mean me!?” 20And He answered, “It is one of the twelve, the one that dips bread into the bowl with Me. 21The Son of man, indeed, will go as it is written of Him; but woe to that man who betrays the Son of man! It would be better for that man if he had never been born.”

22And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when He given thanks, He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take and eat; this is My body”. 23And then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them; and they all drank from it. 24And He said unto them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed as a sacrifice for many. 25Truly I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.”

26And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 27And Jesus said unto them, “All you shall be offended because of Me this night and fall away; for it is written, ‘I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered’. 28But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” 29But Peter said to Him, “Even if all the others shall be offended, yet I will not”. 30And Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that today, even this night, before the cock (rooster) crows twice, you shall deny (or disown) Me three times.” 31But Peter protested the more vehemently, “If I should die with You, I will never deny You in any way”. And all the others also said the same.

32And they went to a place called Gethsemane; and Jesus said to His disciples, “Sit here, while I pray”. 33And He took with Him Peter, James, and John, and He began to be greatly distressed, and troubled; 34And He said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow – even unto death! Stay here, and watch”. 35And He went a little farther, and fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take away this cup from Me. Nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will”. 37And He returned, and found them sleeping, and He said unto Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could not you watch for one hour? 38Watch and pray, so that you do not fall into temptation. The spirit truly is willing, but the flesh is weak”. 39And once again He went away, and prayed the same words. 40And when He returned, He found them asleep again (for their eyes were heavy), nor did they know what to answer Him. 41And He came back the third time, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and have your rest. But no - the hour has come. Look, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42Rise up, let us go; look, he that betrays Me is at hand.”

43And as He yet spoke, Judas, one of the twelve, came and with him a great mob from the chief priest, scribes, and elders, with swords and clubs. 44And he that betrayed Him (Judas) had given them a sign: “Whomever I shall kiss, that is He; take Him, and lead Him away under guard.” 45And as soon as he arrived, he went straight to Jesus, and said, “Master, Master”; and kissed Him. 46And they seized Him, and arrested Him.

47And one of those that standing by drew a sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 48And Jesus said to them, “Have you come out, with swords and with clubs, to take Me as you would a thief? 49I was with you in the temple, teaching daily, and you sis not arrest Me; but the scriptures must be fulfilled.” 50And then all who had been with Him forsook Him, and fled. 51And a certain young man who had only a linen cloth covering his naked body was following Jesus; and when the mob tried to grab him; 52He left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

53And they led Jesus to the high priest; and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. 54And Peter followed Him at a distance into the court of the high priest; and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. 55And the chief priests and all the council looked for witness against Jesus to put Him to death; but found none. 56For while many bore false witness against Him, their witness did not agree with one another. 57And some arose and bore false witness against Him, saying, 58“We heard Him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands’”. 59But again, none of their stories agreed together. 60And then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are You not going to answer? What is it which these testify against You?” 61But Jesus held His peace, and replied not a word. And again, the high priest asked Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?” 62And then Jesus replied, “I am; and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power (the Mighty One) , and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 63Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, “Why do we need we any further witnesses? 64You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think (what is your verdict)?” And they all condemned Him as being worthy of death. 65And some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to hit Him, and to say to Him, “Prophesy”. And the guards struck Him with the palms of their hands.

66And while Peter was below in the court, one of the maids of the high priest came by. 67And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, “And you also were with that Nazarene, Jesus.” 68But he denied, saying, “I do not know, nor understand what you are talking about.” And he went out onto the porch; and the cock crew (rooster crowed). 69And another maid saw him there, and said to those that stood by, “This is one of them”. 70And again he denied it. And a little later, those that stood by said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean, and your speech reveals this”. 71But he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know this Man of Whom you speak”. 72And the cock (rooster) crowed the second time. And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the cock crows twice, you shall deny Me three times.” And as he thought about that, he wept.
