Coronation of the Son

1Whya do the nations rebelb, c

and the peoples plot in vain?d

2The kings of the earth take their stand,e

and the rulers conspire together

against the LORD and His Anointed One:f, g

3Let us tear off their chains

and free ourselves from their restraints.”h, i

4The One enthronedj in heaven laughs;

the Lord ridicules them.k

5Then He speaks to them in His anger

and terrifies them in His wrath:l

6I have consecrated My Kingm

on Zion, My holy mountain.”n

7I will declare the LORD’s decree:

He said to Me, “You are My Son;o

today I have become Yourp Father.q

8Ask of Me,

and I will make the nations Yourr inheritance

and the ends of the earth Yours possession.t

9You will breaku them with a rod of iron;

Youv will shatter them like pottery.”w, x

10So now, kings, be wise;

receive instruction, you judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with reverential awe

and rejoice with trembling.y

12Pay homage toz the Son or Heaa will be angry

and you will perish in your rebellion,ab, ac
