1 So Israel set out with all that he had, and when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. 5 Then Jacob departed from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel took their father Jacob in the wagons Pharaoh had sent to carry him, along with their children and wives. Then Jacob set out from Beersheba. The sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him. 6 They also took the livestock and possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt. 27 And with the two sons who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob’s family who went to Egypt were seventy in all. And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two. All the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy. 29 Joseph prepared his chariot and went there to meet his father Israel. Joseph presented himself to him, embraced him, and wept profusely. And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while. 30 Then Israel said to Joseph, “Finally I can die, now that I have seen your face and know that you are still alive!” Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.” And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou <i>art</i> yet alive. Then Israel said to Joseph, “Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive.” Israel said to Joseph, “Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive.”
31 Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and inform Pharaoh: ‘My brothers and my father’s household from the land of Canaan have come to me. Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father's house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and my father's house, which <i>were</i> in the land of Canaan, are come unto me; But Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who <i>were</i> in the land of Canaan, have come to me; Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father’s household, “I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, ‘My brothers and my father’s household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
32 The men are shepherds; they raise livestock, and they have brought their flocks and herds and all that they own.’ And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ And the men <i>are</i> shepherds, for their trade hath been to feed cattle; and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have. and the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock; and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.’ The men are shepherds; they tend livestock, and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.’
33 When Pharaoh summons you and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’ When Pharaoh calls you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, What <i>is</i> your occupation? When Pharaoh calls for you and says, ‘What is your occupation?’ When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, ‘What is your occupation?’
34 you are to say, ‘Your servants have raised livestock ever since our youth both we and our fathers.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the land of Goshen, since all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.” you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.” That ye shall say, Thy servants' trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until now, both we, <i>and</i> also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd <i>is</i> an abomination unto the Egyptians. you shall say, ‘Your servants have been keepers of livestock since our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,’ so that you may live in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.” you should answer, ‘Your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen, for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians.”
