The LORD said to Job: And the LORD said to Job: And the LORD said to Job:
“Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!” “Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who argues with God give an answer.” “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”
Then Job answered the LORD: Then Job answered the LORD: Then Job answered the LORD and said:
“I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. “Behold, I am insignificant. How can I reply to You? I place my hand over my mouth. “Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.
I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.” I have spoken once, but I have no answer—twice, but I have nothing to add.” I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but I will proceed no further.”
Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm: Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
“Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. “Now brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall inform Me. “Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.
“Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself? Would you really annul My justice? Would you condemn Me to justify yourself? Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?
Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his? Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like His? Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty. Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory. “Adorn yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor.
Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at all who are proud and bring them low, Unleash the fury of your wrath; look on every proud man and bring him low. Pour out the overflowings of your anger, and look on everyone who is proud and abase him.
look at all who are proud and humble them, crush the wicked where they stand. Look on every proud man and humble him; trample the wicked where they stand. Look on everyone who is proud and bring him low and tread down the wicked where they stand.
Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave. Bury them together in the dust; imprison them in the grave. Hide them all in the dust together; bind their faces in the world below.
Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you. Then I will confess to you that your own right hand can save you. Then will I also acknowledge to you that your own right hand can save you.
“Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. He feeds on grass like an ox. “Behold, Behemoth, which I made as I made you; he eats grass like an ox.
What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly! See the strength of his loins and the power in the muscles of his belly. Behold, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly.
Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit. His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. He makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together.
Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron. His bones are tubes of bronze; his limbs are rods of iron. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like bars of iron.
It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword. He is the foremost of God’s works; only his Maker can draw the sword against him. “He is the first of the works of God; let him who made him bring near his sword!
The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby. The hills yield him their produce, while all the beasts of the field play nearby. For the mountains yield food for him where all the wild beasts play.
Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh. He lies under the lotus plants, hidden among the reeds of the marsh. Under the lotus plants he lies, in the shelter of the reeds and in the marsh.
The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it. The lotus plants conceal him in their shade; the willows of the brook surround him. For his shade the lotus trees cover him; the willows of the brook surround him.
A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth. Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid; he remains secure, though the Jordan surges to his mouth. Behold, if the river is turbulent he is not frightened; he is confident though Jordan rushes against his mouth.
Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose? Can anyone capture him as he looks on, or pierce his nose with a snare? Can one take him by his eyes, or pierce his nose with a snare?
