1 Ahaz was a son of twenty years in his reigning, and sixteen years he reigned in Jerusalem. And he did not do right in the eyes of YHWH, as David his father. 2 For he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and he made images for the Baals. 3 And he burned incense in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and he burned his sons in the fire according to the abominations of the nations whom YHWH had cast out before the sons of Israel. 4 And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. 5 And YHWH his God gave him into the hand of the king of Aram, and they defeated him and carried away a great number of them as captives, and they brought them in to Damascus. And also into the hand of the king of Israel he was delivered, and he struck him with a great slaughter. 6 And Pekah son of Remaliah killed in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day—all sons of valor—because they had forsaken YHWH, God of their fathers. 7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the son of the king, and Azrikam the officer over the house, and Elkanah the second to the king. 8 And the sons of Israel removed from their brothers two hundred thousand women, sons, and daughters. And also they took away from them much plunder, and they brought in the spoil to Samaria. 2 Chronicles 28:1-8, Berean Literal Bible. Public domain.
