1 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years in which Solomon had built the house of YHWH and his own house, 2 that the cities that Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, and there he settled the sons of Israel. 3 And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah and seized it. 4 And He built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities that he built in Hamath. 5 And He built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars, 6 and Baalath and all the storage cities that were unto Solomon, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, and all the desire of Solomon that he desired to build in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion. 7 And all the people remaining of the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite (who they were not of Israel— 8 of their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel did not destroy), Solomon lifted up as forced labor to this day. 9 And Solomon did not make the sons of Israel servants for his work, for they were men of war, and captains of his officers, and captains of his chariots, and his cavalry. 10 And these were chiefs of the officers who were of King Solomon, two hundred and fifty ruling over the people. 2 Chronicles 8:1-10, Berean Literal Bible.
