1 This, a second letter, beloved, I now write to you, in both which I stir up your sincere mind by way of remembrance; 2 that ye remember the words spoken before by holy prophets, and the commandments of the Lord and Savior by your apostles. 3 Knowing this first, that there will come in the last days scoffers with scoffing, walking after their own desires, 4 and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? for, from the day the fathers fell asleep, all things remain as they were from the beginning of the creation." 5 For this escapes them willingly, that there were heavens of old, and an earth set together out of water, and through water, by the word of God: 6 through which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished; 2 Peter 3:1-6, Worrell New Testament.
