1 Now Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer—the ninth hour .

2 And a certain man, lame from his mother's womb, was being carried along, whom they were wont to lay daily at the gate of the temple—which was called "Beautiful"?to ask alms of those entering the temple;

3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, was asking to receive an alms.

4 And Peter, fixing his eyes upon him, with John, said, "Look on us."

5 And he was giving heed to them, expecting to receive something from them.
