And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Behold, I am here, my son.” And he said, “Behold, the fire and the wood, and where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

And Abraham said, “God will see for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” And they went, the two of them, together.

And they came to the place that God had told him, and there Abraham built the altar and arranged the wood, and he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.

And the angel of YHWH called to him from the heavens and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Behold, I am here.”

And he said, “Do not stretch out your hand upon the boy, and do not do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.”

And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a ram behind him, caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

And Abraham called the name of that place “YHWH Yireh,” as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of YHWH it shall be seen.”

And the angel of YHWH called to Abraham a second time from the heavens

and said, “By Myself I have sworn, says YHWH, that because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only one,

that I will surely bless you, and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens and as the sand which is on the shore of the sea; and your seed shall possess the gate of their enemies.

And in your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have listened to My voice.”

And Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba. And Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.

And it came to pass after these things that it was told to Abraham, saying, “Behold, Milcah has borne—even she—sons to Nahor your brother:

Uz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

and Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”

And Bethuel begat Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

And his concubine (and her name was Reumah), she also bore Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maacah.
