This is the account of Esau (hairy) (that is, Edom (red)).

Esau (hairy) took his wives from the daughters of Canaan (lowland): Adah (ornament) daughter of Elon (mighty) the Hittite, Oholibamah (tent of the high place) daughter of Anah (answer) and granddaughter of Zibeon (dyed) the Hivite (villagers),

and Basemath (spice) daughter of Ishmael (God hears) and sister of Nebaioth (heights).

And Adah (ornament) bore Eliphaz (my God is gold) to Esau (hairy), Basemath (spice) gave birth to Reuel (friend of God),

and Oholibamah (tent of the high place) gave birth to Jeush (assembler), Jalam (concealed), and Korah (bald). These were the sons of Esau (hairy), who were born to him in the land of Canaan (lowland).

Later, Esau (hairy) took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his livestock, all his other animals, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan (lowland), and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob (he grasps the heel).

For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together; the land where they stayed could not support them because of their livestock.

So Esau (hairy) (that is, Edom (red)) settled in the area of Mount Seir (shaggy).
