19 Then the high priest questioned Jesus concerning His disciples and concerning His teaching. 20 Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and I spoke nothing in secret. 21 Why do you question Me? Question those having heard what I spoke to them. Behold, they know what I said.” 22 Now on His having said these things, one of the officers standing by gave a slap to Jesus, having said, “Do You answer the high priest thus?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If I spoke evil, testify concerning the evil; but if rightly, why do you strike Me?” 24 Then Annas sent Him, bound, to Caiaphas the high priest.
