35 The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, "Where is This Man about to go, that we shall not find Him? Is He about to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this word that He said, 'Ye will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, ye cannot come?'" 37 Now, on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood, and cried, saying, "If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He that believes on Me, as the Scripture said, from within him shall flow rivers of living water." 39 But this He spake concerning the Spirit, Whom those who believed on Him were about to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given , because Jesus was not yet glorified. 40 Some of the multitude, therefore, having heard these words, said, "Truly This is the Prophet;" 41 others said, "This is the Christ;" but some said, "What? doth the Christ come out of Nazareth?" 42 Did not the Scriptures say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?" 43 A division, therefore, arose in the multitude because of Him. 44 And some of them were wishing to seize Him; but no one laid hands on Him. 45 The officers, therefore, came to the high priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why did ye not bring Him?" 46 The officers answered, "Never did man speak thus!" 47 The Pharisees; therefore, answered them, "Have ye also been led astray? 48 Did any one of the rulers believe on Him, or of the Pharisees? 49 But this multitude, who know not the law, are accursed." 50 Nicodemus says to them (he who came to Him before, being one of them), 51 "Does our law judge a man, unless it first hear from him, and know what he does?" 52 They answered, and said to him, "Are you also of Galilee? Search, and see that out of Galilee arises no prophet." 53 [And each one went to his house; John 7:35-53, Worrell New Testament. Public domain.
