1 This is the beginning of the gospel (good news) of Jesus (YHWH saves) Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God [the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ.]. 2 As it is written in Isaiah (YHWH saves) the prophet [in the prophets:]: “Behold, I will send My messenger (angel) ahead of You, who will prepare Your way 3 “A voice of one calling in the wilderness (solitary place), ‘Prepare the way for the Lord {Kyriou}, make straight paths for Him 4 John (YHWH is gracious) the Baptist appeared in the wilderness (solitary place), preaching a baptism (submersion) of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5 People went out to him from all of Jerusalem (city of peace) and the countryside of Judea (land of praise).
