13 And they send to Him some of the Pharisees and Herodians, so that they might catch Him in a word. 14 And having come, they say to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and to You there is no care about anyone; for You do not look to the appearance of men, but You teach the way of God on the basis of truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not? Should we pay or not pay?” 15 But knowing their hypocrisy, He said to them, “Why do you? test Me? Bring Me a denarius, so that I might see it.” 16 And they brought it. And He says to them, “Whose image is this—and the inscription?” And they said to Him, “Caesar’s.” 17 And Jesus said to them, “Give back the things of Caesar to Caesar, and the things of God to God.” And they were marveling at Him.
