55 Now the chief priests, and the whole council endeavour'd to get evidence against Jesus, to condemn him to die; but they found none. 56 there were indeed several, who depos'd what was false against him: besides, what they deposed was insufficient. 57 at last there appear'd some, who gave in false evidence against him, 58 saying, we heard him say, "I will pull down this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands." 59 but neither did this evidence appear sufficient.
