Matthew 2:1-6 ▼

1 And Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the King, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,

2 saying, "Where is He that is born King of the Jews, For we saw His star in the east, and we came to do Him homage."

3 And the king Herod, hearing it, was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

4 and having assembled all the high-priests and scribes of the people, he was inquiring of them, "Where the Christ should be born,"

5 And they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judaea;" for thus it has been written through the prophet:

6 "And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the governors of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Governor, who shall be shepherd of My people Israel."
