1 But speak the things which become the healthful teaching; 2 that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience; 3 that aged women, in like manner, be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; 4 that they may train the young women to be lovers of their husbands, lovers of their children, 5 to be sober, pure, workers at home, good, submitting themselves to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 The younger men, in like manner, exhort to be sober-minded; 7 in all things showing yourself an example of good works; in teaching, showing incorruptness, gravity, 8 sound speech not to be condemned; that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say concerning us.
