Aid others in spiritual struggles.
How can we support others in spiritual battles, inspired by Mark 6:13?

Grounded in Mark 6:13

“And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.”

From this single verse we see three pillars of helping struggling believers: confront the enemy, bring healing, and use tangible expressions of faith. Everything that follows springs from that template.

Recognize the Real Battle

- Spiritual opposition is not imaginary. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…” (Ephesians 6:12).

- Ask the Lord to open your eyes to the unseen warfare behind the visible hurt, habits, or relational rifts.

Operate under Christ’s Authority

- The disciples in Mark 6 were sent out two by two and given authority (Mark 6:7). We never fight in our own name.

- Speak and pray “in Jesus’ name,” resting on His completed work (Colossians 2:15).

Intercede First, Intercede Continually

- Pray aloud with the person, refusing to quit after one session. “Pray in the Spirit at all times…be alert and always persevering in your prayers for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18)

- Keep a running list of scriptural promises to proclaim over them (Psalm 34:17; Romans 8:37).

Use Scripture as Your Primary Weapon

- Read, quote, and sing the Word. “For the weapons of our warfare are not the weapons of the world. Instead, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)

- Encourage the person to memorize verses that address their specific struggle.

Employ Tangible Acts of Faith

- Anointing with oil, as in Mark 6:13, reminds both parties that the Holy Spirit is present and active (James 5:14–15).

- Laying on of hands (Acts 13:3) communicates solidarity and imparts blessing.

Stand in Practical Compassion

- Listen without rushing to diagnose. “Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)

- Offer meals, childcare, rides—whatever eases everyday pressures so the person can focus on the Lord.

Foster an Atmosphere of Faith and Repentance

- Gently invite confession where needed (1 John 1:9).

- Celebrate every step of obedience, no matter how small (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

Fast When Prompted

- Some entrenched battles require intensified focus (Mark 9:29).

- Agree on a period of fasting, drawing near to God together.

Keep Yourself Armored

- Before helping others, suit up (Ephesians 6:13–17).

- Maintain personal holiness so the enemy has no foothold (1 Peter 1:15–16).

Stay in Community

- Encourage faithful gathering with believers. “Let us consider how to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together…” (Hebrews 10:24–25).

- Small groups and mature mentors provide ongoing covering.

Expect and Celebrate Victory

- Jesus promised results: “I have given you authority…to overcome all the power of the enemy, and nothing will harm you.” (Luke 10:19)

- When freedom or healing comes, help them testify so others are strengthened (Revelation 12:11).

Supporting someone in spiritual battle is both solemn and exhilarating. By following the pattern in Mark 6:13—driving out what oppresses, ministering healing, and employing visible acts of faith—we stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters until Christ’s victory is fully revealed in their lives.

Why is faith essential when praying for healing, as seen in Mark 6:13?
