Apply strength & courage daily?
How can we apply "be strong and courageous" in our daily challenges today?

Setting the Scene

“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.” — 2 Chronicles 32:7

Hezekiah faced an enemy so overwhelming that fear seemed reasonable. Yet he grounded his confidence in the living God, whose power dwarfed the Assyrian threat. That same God calls us to carry this charge into every circumstance we meet today.

Timeless Truth Behind the Charge

• Scripture is God-breathed and true (2 Timothy 3:16). Therefore, the command to “be strong and courageous” applies just as literally to us as it did to Judah’s king.

• Strength and courage flow from who God is, not from personal grit (Psalm 46:1-2).

• The “greater power with us” is the LORD Himself (1 John 4:4; Romans 8:31).

What Strength and Courage Look Like Today

• Choosing faith over fear when news headlines spark anxiety.

• Standing firm for biblical convictions at work or school—even if it’s unpopular.

• Persevering in marriage, parenting, or ministry when results feel slow.

• Facing illness, financial strain, or grief without surrendering to despair.

Simple Steps for Daily Application

1. Identify today’s “Assyrian army.” Name the specific pressure, temptation, or opposition you face.

2. Anchor your mind in truth. Speak verses aloud—“Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous?” (Joshua 1:9).

3. Pray immediately, not eventually. Invite God’s strength into the moment.

4. Act in obedience, however small the next step: a phone call, an apology, a stand for righteousness.

5. Lean on fellowship. Share burdens with believers who will remind you that “the One who is in you is greater” (1 John 4:4).

6. Dress for battle each morning: “Put on the full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-11).

7. Track God’s faithfulness. Record victories—large and small—to fuel future courage.

Closing Reflection

Whatever form the “vast army” takes, the Lord who routed Sennacherib still stands beside His people today. Strength and courage are not distant ideals; they are everyday realities for anyone who trusts the God whose power is always greater.
