Believers' actions as LORD's day nears?
What actions should believers take knowing "the great day of the LORD" approaches?

The Day Is Near

“The great Day of the LORD is near—near and coming quickly. Listen, the Day of the LORD is bitter; then the mighty warrior cries out.” (Zephaniah 1:14)

Essential Responses for Every Believer

• Seek the LORD with humility

– “Seek the LORD, all you humble of the earth… seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will be sheltered on the Day of the LORD’s anger.” (Zephaniah 2:3)

• Repent wholeheartedly

– “Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” (Joel 2:12–13)

• Live holy and godly lives

– “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God.” (2 Peter 3:11–12)

• Stay alert and sober-minded

– “The Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night… So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.” (1 Thessalonians 5:2, 6)

• Armor up in faith, love, and hope

– “Let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:8)

• Keep gathering and encouraging one another

– “And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together… and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24–25)

• Share the gospel urgently

– “Since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men.” (2 Corinthians 5:11)

• Store treasure in heaven, not on earth

– “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19–21)

Why These Actions Matter

• They demonstrate genuine faith (James 2:17).

• They prepare hearts for Christ’s judgment seat (2 Corinthians 5:10).

• They shine light to a watching world (Philippians 2:15).

Living in Hope

“The God of peace Himself sanctify you completely… He who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23–24)
