Believers' response to God's power?
How should believers respond when witnessing God's power, as seen in Exodus 8:11?

Framing the Moment: Exodus 8:11

“The frogs will depart from you, your houses, your officials, and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

What the Verse Shows Us about God’s Power

• He commands creation itself; even the frogs obey His word.

• His power is precise—He dictates both the arrival and the exit of the plague.

• He answers prayer instantly (vv. 12–13), proving His nearness and sovereignty.

• His word is utterly trustworthy; what He promises, He performs (cf. Numbers 23:19).

Right Responses When We Witness Such Power

1. Stand in awe

• “Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere Him.” (Psalm 33:8–9)

• Marvel first, analyze later. Reverence keeps the heart soft and teachable.

2. Humble ourselves immediately

• Pharaoh hardened his heart (Exodus 8:15); believers bow theirs.

• “Submit yourselves therefore to God.” (James 4:7)

3. Obey without delay

• The same voice that removed the frogs tells us how to live (John 14:15).

• “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” (James 1:22)

4. Give thanks out loud

• After healing, one leper “returned, glorifying God with a loud voice.” (Luke 17:15–16)

• Gratitude guards us from the ingratitude that doomed Pharaoh.

5. Trust Him for future deliverance

• Israel later faced the Red Sea—and remembered the plagues (Exodus 14:31).

• Past power fuels present faith (Psalm 77:11–14).

6. Tell the story to others

• “Make known His deeds among the peoples.” (Psalm 105:1–2)

• Sharing magnifies God and encourages fellow believers.

Bringing It Home

When God flexes His might—whether by parting a sea, removing a plague, healing a body, or saving a soul—the fitting response is awe, humility, obedience, gratitude, trust, and testimony. Anything less risks the hard-heartedness that plagued Pharaoh; anything more is impossible, because these responses already flow from hearts captured by the God whose every word proves true.
