Bless our kneading bowl, avoid curses?
How can we ensure our "kneading bowl" is blessed, not cursed?

The Promise in Deuteronomy 28:5

“Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.”

What the Kneading Bowl Represents

• Daily provision and sustenance

• The fruit of honest work

• A household’s economic life and stability

The Path to a Blessed Kneading Bowl

• Whole-hearted obedience

– “And all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will obey the voice of the LORD your God.” (Deuteronomy 28:2)

• Loyal love for God

– “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)

• Reverent fear and consistent walk

– “Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in His ways!” (Psalm 128:1)

• Honoring God first with resources

– “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your harvest; then your barns will be filled with plenty.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)

• Faithful, cheerful giving

– “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse… and thereby put Me to the test,” says the LORD. (Malachi 3:10)

• Prioritizing the kingdom

– “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)

Guardrails Against the Curse

• Reject selective obedience

– “If you do not obey the voice of the LORD your God… Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.” (Deuteronomy 28:15, 17)

• Refuse complacency with sin

– Hidden or tolerated sin invites scarcity (cf. Joshua 7:1-12).

• Avoid dishonest gain

– “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD.” (Proverbs 11:1)

• Resist slothfulness

– “If anyone is not willing to work, neither shall he eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)

Living the Blessing Today

• Begin each task acknowledging God’s ownership of your workspaces, finances, and schedules.

• Set aside the first portion of income for the Lord before spending anything else.

• Keep short accounts: confess known sin immediately and realign with Scripture.

• Practice integrity in every transaction—online, at the office, on tax forms.

• View your home as a place of ministry: share food, hospitality, and generosity.

• Teach children to connect God’s Word with everyday chores—yes, even baking bread.
