Encourage trust in God's provision?
How can we encourage others to rely on God's provision as in Psalm 34:10?

Setting the Scene

Psalm 34:10: “Young lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.”

David’s words paint two pictures: self-reliant strength that still comes up empty (“young lions”), and humble seekers who discover God’s unfailing provision. Our assignment is to help friends, family, and fellow believers step out of the first picture and into the second.

Why We Can Trust God’s Provision

• God’s character is generous

Psalm 23:1: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above...”

• His supply is comprehensive

Philippians 4:19: “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 9:8: “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work.”

• He delights in those who seek Him

Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Practical Ways to Encourage Others

1. Share testimonies of God’s faithfulness

• Recount answered prayers, unexpected provision, or daily mercies.

• Point to biblical narratives (e.g., 1 Kings 17:1-16—Elijah and the widow’s jar of flour and jug of oil).

2. Speak Scripture into real-time needs

• Write out verses like Psalm 34:10 on a card, text, or email.

• Read them aloud together during discouraging moments.

3. Model seeking the LORD first

• Let others see consistent habits of prayer, worship, and Scripture reading.

• When decisions arise, verbalize, “Let’s ask the Lord what He wants.”

4. Celebrate small provisions openly

• Thank God out loud for the groceries, the job interview, the repaired appliance.

• Small gratitude builds big trust.

5. Redirect anxiety toward confident expectation

• When someone voices worry, gently respond with, “What might God be planning to show you about His care right now?”

• Remind them of God’s past record in their own life.

6. Serve as God’s hands of provision

• Bring a meal, cover a bill, offer babysitting.

• Tell them, “This is one way the Lord is meeting your need.”

Living Psalm 34:10 Together

• Form little “seeking circles.” Meet weekly for a brief Scripture reading, shared needs, and praise reports.

• Keep a communal journal noting each time God supplies. Review it often.

• Encourage an “open-hand policy”: the resources He gives one believer today may flow through to another tomorrow.

Closing Charge

Choose daily to step away from self-reliant lion mode and into active seeking. As you do, invite others to watch, hear, and experience with you that “those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.”
