Honor God-fearing in our community?
How can we honor those who fear the Lord in our community?

Anchor Verse

Psalm 15:4: “who despises the vile but honors those who fear the LORD; who does not change a vow, even when it hurts.”

What Honor Looks Like in Scripture

- Recognition of God-given worth

- Romans 12:10: “Outdo one another in showing honor.”

- Respectful speech

- Proverbs 18:21 reminds that words carry life or death; honoring speech speaks life.

- Willing, practical support

- 1 Timothy 5:17: “The elders who lead well are worthy of double honor.”

Why God Commands Honor

- He esteems those who esteem Him (1 Samuel 2:30).

- Honoring godly people reinforces a culture that treasures righteousness (Proverbs 14:34).

- It opens the way for blessing: “Those who honor Me I will honor” (1 Samuel 2:30).

Practical Ways to Honor Those Who Fear the LORD

- Public acknowledgment

- Share testimonies of their faithfulness during services or gatherings (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13).

- Private encouragement

- Send a card, text, or visit, explicitly thanking them for their obedience (Hebrews 3:13).

- Tangible assistance

- Meet needs—meals, yard work, rides, financial help—mirroring Acts 4:34-35.

- Listening and learning

- Invite their counsel; “Listen to advice and accept instruction” (Proverbs 19:20).

- Defending reputations

- Refuse gossip, correct misinformation (Proverbs 17:9).

- Including them in decision-making

- Seek their wisdom for ministry plans (Proverbs 11:14).

- Practicing hospitality

- Open homes for fellowship; “Share with the saints who are in need; practice hospitality” (Romans 12:13).

- Celebrating milestones

- Mark anniversaries of service or spiritual breakthroughs (Philippians 1:3-5).

Guarding Against Partiality

- Honor is rooted in godliness, not social status (James 2:1-4).

- The same respect shown to a well-known leader is due a quiet intercessor who fears the LORD (Mark 12:41-44).

Blessings That Follow Honoring the God-fearing

- Strengthened unity: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity” (Psalm 133:1).

- A pattern for the next generation, teaching them to value faith over fame (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

- God’s favor rests on communities that prize what He prizes (2 Chronicles 16:9).
