How can we fulfill God's command to multiply?
In what ways can we fulfill God's command to "multiply on the earth"?

The Foundational Command

“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth…’” (Genesis 1:28).

After the flood He repeated it: “But as for you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out across the earth and multiply upon it” (Genesis 9:7).

Because Scripture is accurate and enduring, this commission still stands.

The Physical Dimension—Welcoming Children

• View children as a gift, not a burden (Psalm 127:3–5).

• Embrace marriage as the God-designed context for bearing and raising offspring (Genesis 2:24; Hebrews 13:4).

• Trust the Lord with family size, seeking wisdom yet refusing fear-driven limitations (Psalm 128:1–4).

• Train children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4) so each generation shines God’s light.

The Spiritual Dimension—Making Disciples

• Jesus broadened multiplication: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

• Share the gospel in everyday conversations (Acts 1:8).

• Invest relationally: teach, model, and encourage obedience to Christ (2 Timothy 2:2).

• Pray for and expect spiritual offspring who, in turn, disciple others—exponential growth that fills the earth with worshipers.

Extending Families Through Adoption and Orphan Care

• Reflect God’s heart for the fatherless (James 1:27; Psalm 68:5–6).

• Adoption multiplies love and legacy while portraying our own adoption in Christ (Romans 8:15).

• Support foster care, orphan ministries, and families who open their homes.

Multiplying Godly Influence in Culture

• Cultivate households that model biblical marriage, gender, and family roles (Malachi 2:15).

• Equip children to impact workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods with kingdom values (Proverbs 22:6).

• Engage civic life—voting, serving, creating—so righteousness spreads (Proverbs 14:34).

A Heart Set on Faithfulness

• Multiplication flows from obedience, not mere numbers; God evaluates faithfulness (1 Corinthians 4:2).

• Rely on His provision: “My God will supply all your needs” (Philippians 4:19).

• Celebrate both physical and spiritual growth, giving glory to the One who commanded, “Be fruitful and multiply.”
