How can we mirror Jesus' priestly role?
In what ways can we emulate Jesus' priestly role in our communities?

An Anchor and a Forerunner

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and steadfast. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus our forerunner has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 6:19-20)

Jesus has already crossed the threshold, securing our access to God. Because Scripture is fully trustworthy and literal, His priesthood is the model for ours.

What a Priest Does

• Represents people before God

• Offers acceptable sacrifices

• Intercedes continually

• Mediates reconciliation

• Pronounces blessing

Our Shared Calling

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation…” (1 Peter 2:9)

Every believer is invited to mirror the High Priest in daily life.

Practical Ways to Reflect His Priestly Ministry

• Stand in the Gap through Intercessory Prayer

Hebrews 7:25; James 5:16; 1 Timothy 2:1

– Set aside daily slots to name neighbors, leaders, and the lost before the Father.

• Offer Living Sacrifices of Obedient Service

Romans 12:1; Philippians 2:5-8

– Treat each task—parenting, workplace duties, church chores—as an offering laid on the altar.

• Facilitate Reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:18-20

– Help estranged family members talk, urge repentance and forgiveness, and share the gospel of peace.

• Bless People in His Name

Numbers 6:24-26; 1 Peter 3:9

– Speak Scripture-filled affirmations over children, friends, even strangers, trusting God to impart grace.

• Teach and Guard Sound Doctrine

Malachi 2:7; 2 Timothy 2:2

– Open the Bible at the kitchen table, small groups, and youth meetings; correct error gently but firmly.

• Serve with Compassionate Deeds

Matthew 20:28; John 13:14-15

– Wash figurative feet: deliver meals, clean yards, sit with the grieving.

• Bear One Another’s Burdens

Galatians 6:2; Romans 15:1

– Share practical help, finances, and emotional support so no one shoulders trials alone.

• Maintain Holiness and Integrity

Leviticus 10:3; 1 Peter 1:15-16

– Guard speech, media intake, and relationships so the fragrance of Christ remains unmistakable.

Living It Out This Week

1. Choose one person or situation for focused intercession.

2. Identify one sacrificial act of service you can render.

3. Speak a biblical blessing aloud to someone.

4. Review a key doctrine with a younger believer.

By these simple steps we echo the ministry of the One who has already gone behind the veil for us.
