How can we oppose global evil now?
In what ways can we testify against the world's evil today?

Hearing Jesus in John 7:7

“The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify that its works are evil.” (John 7:7)

Jesus states the issue plainly: He calls evil what it is, and the world resents the light that exposes its darkness. If our lives are joined to His, our calling is the same—faithfully, lovingly declaring what God says is right and what He says is wrong.

Why the World Bristles When Evil Is Exposed

• Light unmasks hidden motives (John 3:19-20).

• Truth removes excuses (Romans 1:20).

• God’s standards confront human pride (James 4:6).

• Holiness demands a response—repentance or rejection (Acts 24:25).

Practical Ways to Testify Against Evil Today

• Speak the Word without compromise

– Share Scripture in conversations, trusting its power (Isaiah 55:11).

– Refuse to redefine sin to fit cultural tastes (Galatians 1:10).

• Live a visibly different life

– “Let your light shine before men” (Matthew 5:16).

– Integrity at work, purity in relationships, honesty in finances—each choice exposes darkness by contrast.

• Expose, don’t partner

– “Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)

• Defend the vulnerable

– “Open your mouth for those with no voice… defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9)

– Standing up for unborn lives, persecuted believers, and exploited victims brings hidden evil into the open.

• Confront with compassion

– Address sinful structures or behaviors, yet “speak the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15).

– A gentle tone keeps the door open for repentance (2 Timothy 2:25).

• Use digital platforms wisely

– Share testimonies, Scripture, and sound teaching online.

– Refuse to circulate slander, pornography, or coarse humor—silence can be a loud statement.

• Practice restorative justice

– Support biblically grounded programs that heal offenders and victims alike (Micah 6:8).

– Advocate policies that reflect God’s justice and mercy.

• Engage culture, don’t escape it

– Write, create art, run businesses, teach—craft everything to reflect God’s character (Colossians 3:23).

Guarding Our Hearts While We Testify

• Stay anchored in prayer and the Word (Psalm 119:11).

• Cultivate humility—remember we were rescued from the same darkness (Titus 3:3-5).

• Keep fellowship with believers for courage and accountability (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Expect opposition: “All who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” (2 Timothy 3:12)

Promises for the Courageous Witness

• Christ goes with us—“I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)

• The Spirit supplies the words (Luke 12:12).

• Light ultimately wins—“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

In every arena—home, school, marketplace, media—our steadfast allegiance to Scripture’s unchanging truth is God’s chosen means to push back the darkness.
