How can we prepare to meet God like Moses?
In what ways can we prepare ourselves to meet God, as Moses did?

Stepping onto the Mountain: Exodus 24 : 15

“ When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it.”

God literally called Moses higher, and Moses literally climbed. The scene shows what it looks like to prepare ourselves to meet God.

Set Apart Time and Space

• Moses “went up” and left the camp behind.

Exodus 34 : 2—“Be ready in the morning, then come up Mount Sinai and present yourself before Me.”

James 4 : 8—“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Choose a place and a window of time that is undistracted, intentionally reserved for God alone.

Approach with Reverent Obedience

Psalm 24 : 3-4—“Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? He who has clean hands and a pure heart.”

Hebrews 12 : 28-29 urges us to “worship with reverence and awe.”

Yield immediately to any command God has already made clear. Obedience paves the path upward.

Consecrate Ourselves Through Cleansing

Exodus 19 : 10-11—Israel had to wash their garments before God descended.

1 John 1 : 9—Confessing sin brings cleansing.

Search the heart, confess sin specifically, and receive Christ’s cleansing so nothing hinders fellowship.

Ascend Through Worship and Sacrifice

Exodus 24 : 5—Moses offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

Romans 12 : 1—“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual worship.”

Praise God aloud, thank Him, and freshly surrender yourself as His.

Embrace Holy Silence

Exodus 24 : 16—The cloud covered the mountain six days before God spoke.

Isaiah 30 : 15—“In quietness and trust shall be your strength.”

Resist the urge to rush. Sit still. Let the noise settle so His voice is unmistakable.

Commit to Receiving and Keeping the Word

Exodus 24 : 12—“I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and the commandment.”

Joshua 1 : 8—Meditate on the Word “day and night.”

Open Scripture expecting God to speak. Write down what He says, then plan concrete steps to obey.

Walk Down to Share God’s Glory

Exodus 34 : 29—Moses’ face shone when he returned.

Matthew 5 : 16—“Let your light shine before men.”

Meeting God is never privatized; carry His presence into everyday life so others see His glory.

Practical Checklist for Today

□ Block a specific hour, silence the phone, step away.

□ Ask the Spirit to search your heart; confess and receive cleansing.

□ Read a chosen passage aloud, linger in quiet, note what the Lord highlights.

□ Respond in worship and fresh obedience.

□ Re-enter your day ready to reflect His character and share His Word.
