How can we resist Satan's influence?
What practical steps can we take to turn from "the power of Satan"?

Anchor Verse: Eyes Opened, Chains Broken

“to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by faith in Me.” — Acts 26:18

1. Receive Christ’s Forgiveness and New Birth

• You cannot wrench yourself from Satan’s grip by sheer effort; freedom begins with the gift of salvation.

• “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

• Respond to Jesus’ invitation, trust His finished work on the cross, and step into the family of God.

2. Saturate Your Mind With God’s Truth

• Satan traffics in lies (John 8:44); Scripture exposes and dismantles them.

• Make the Word your daily diet: read, memorize, meditate.

• “Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.” — John 17:17

• “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

3. Submit and Resist

• “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7

• Yield every area to Christ’s lordship, then stand firm—Satan cannot withstand a believer who is both surrendered and resistant.

4. Walk as Children of Light

• Choices matter. Break with practices that invite darkness.

• “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light… Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness.” — Ephesians 5:8-11

• Replace old habits with Spirit-led obedience.

5. Stay Connected to God’s People

• Isolation breeds vulnerability.

• “Let us not neglect meeting together… but let us encourage one another.” — Hebrews 10:24-25

• Worship, small groups, accountability friendships, service teams—all strengthen your defense.

6. Put On the Full Armor

• Spiritual battles require spiritual equipment (Ephesians 6:10-18).

• Belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel shoes, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit, prayer.

• Dress daily; armor left in the closet protects no one.

7. Guard Your Inner Life

• “Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

• Monitor media intake, relationships, and thought patterns.

• “Whatever is true… lovely… praiseworthy—think on these things.” — Philippians 4:8

8. Keep Short Accounts With God

• Unconfessed sin is a foothold for the enemy.

• “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us… and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9

• Practice immediate repentance; don’t let guilt linger.

9. Overcome Evil With Good

• “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” — Romans 12:21

• Serve, give, encourage; positive action displaces temptation and showcases Christ’s victory.

10. Live for the Blessed Hope

• Keeping eternity in view loosens Satan’s present grip.

• “We await the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” — Titus 2:11-13

• Hope fuels perseverance and purity.

Living Daily in the Freedom Christ Gives

Turning from the power of Satan is not a one-time sprint but a lifelong walk in the light. By embracing these biblical steps—grounded in the finished work of Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit—you can experience enduring freedom and lead others into the same liberty.
