How can we show God's love to others?
In what ways can we reflect God's steadfast love to others around us?

Steadfast Love in the Covenant Story

1 Chronicles 17:13 records God’s promise to David’s son: “I will be his Father, and he will be My son. And I will never withdraw My loving devotion from him as I withdrew it from your predecessor.”

• “Loving devotion” (ḥesed) speaks of covenant loyalty—unfailing, undeserved, committed love.

• God’s pledge sets the pattern: the Father binds Himself to care, forgive, protect, and remain faithful.

• As His children (1 John 3:1), we mirror that same ḥesed to the people He places in our lives.

Reflecting the Father’s Heart

We reflect God’s steadfast love when we:

• Keep our word even when it costs us (Psalm 15:4).

• Extend mercy instead of retaliation (Luke 6:35–36).

• Remain present with others in their pain (Romans 12:15).

• Forgive freely as Christ forgave us (Ephesians 4:32).

• Pursue the good of another ahead of personal convenience (Philippians 2:3–4).

Daily Practices of Covenant Love

1. Speak blessing

Proverbs 18:21 reminds us words carry life or death. Use conversation to encourage, not to wound.

2. Serve quietly

Matthew 6:3–4: give and help without fanfare, trusting the Father who sees in secret.

3. Stay committed

Proverbs 17:17: “A friend loves at all times.” Show up consistently—especially when it’s inconvenient.

4. Forgive promptly

Colossians 3:13 calls us to “bear with one another.” Release grievances before bitterness takes root.

5. Pray faithfully

1 Samuel 12:23: “Far be it from me that I should sin…by failing to pray for you.” Uphold others before the throne as an act of steadfast love.

Jesus: The Perfect Picture

John 13:1 notes Jesus “loved them to the end.”

• On the cross He secured the eternal covenant (Hebrews 13:20).

• By His Spirit we are empowered to love likewise (Galatians 5:22).

Scriptures to Remember

Psalm 103:8 – “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion.”

Lamentations 3:22–23 – His mercies are “new every morning.”

1 John 4:10–11 – “If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

Living It Out Together

• Begin each day asking, “Father, show me one person to whom I can demonstrate Your steadfast love.”

• Journal moments when you saw God’s ḥesed at work through you; celebrate His faithfulness.

• Share testimonies in your fellowship; encourage one another toward deeper, covenantal care.

In every relationship, we have the privilege of echoing God’s never-withdrawn loving devotion, making the invisible character of the Father tangible to a watching world.
