How can we show care for the vulnerable?
What actions can we take to reflect God's care for the vulnerable?

God’s Heart for the Vulnerable

“A Father of the fatherless and a defender of the widows is God in His holy habitation.” (Psalm 68:5)

Seeing His Character, Shaping Ours

If God calls Himself “Father” and “Defender,” His people must show the same protective, nurturing love. Orphans, widows, refugees, the disabled, the unborn, the poor—anyone lacking power or voice—are precious to Him.

Practical Ways to Mirror God’s Compassion

– Foster, adopt, or mentor children who lack stable families.

– Stand with single parents: meals, childcare, tutoring, emergency funds.

– Create or support church benevolence funds that prioritize widows and the elderly.

– Visit shut-ins; repair homes, provide transportation, run errands.

– Offer job coaching, financial-literacy classes, and networking for those trapped in poverty.

– Volunteer at crisis-pregnancy centers and resource ministries that uphold life.

– Speak up in courtrooms, school boards, and legislatures for righteous policies that protect the vulnerable.

– Open your home: shared meals, holidays, and small-group gatherings so no one walks alone.

– Give generously, even sacrificially, so others taste God’s lavish care.

– Pray faithfully and specifically for individuals and groups who suffer injustice.
