How can we trust God's plan today?
In what ways can we trust God's plan for our own "inheritance" today?

Setting the Context

“In Him we were also chosen as God’s own inheritance, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11).

What “Inheritance” Means in Scripture

• Not a vague hope but a legally secured portion bestowed by the Father (Colossians 1:12).

• Rooted in covenant promise—unbreakable because it rests on God’s oath (Hebrews 6:17–18).

• Far more than material blessing: incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading, “kept in heaven for you” (1 Peter 1:4).

Why God’s Plan for Our Inheritance Is Trustworthy

• God’s Character Guarantees It

– He is “the LORD, the faithful God” (Deuteronomy 7:9).

– “It is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18).

• Christ Has Secured It

– Through His blood we have become “heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17).

– The resurrection proves the payment was accepted (1 Peter 1:3).

• The Spirit Seals It

– “The Holy Spirit is the pledge of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13–14).

– His indwelling presence is a down payment on what is to come (2 Corinthians 1:22).

• Providence Protects It

– God “works out everything by the counsel of His will” (Ephesians 1:11).

– Even trials refine faith so it “may result in praise, glory, and honor” when the inheritance is fully revealed (1 Peter 1:6–7).

Living in the Security of This Inheritance

• Rest from anxiety: if God guards the treasure, we need not clutch it (Psalm 37:18).

• Pursue holiness: heirs honor the family name (1 John 3:2–3).

• Invest in eternal dividends: “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20).

• Speak with confidence: remind one another, “The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance” (Psalm 16:6).

Our inheritance is already written into God’s unchanging plan, bought by Christ, sealed by the Spirit, and safeguarded by providence—every reason to trust Him today.
