How do we see God's authority today?
In what ways can we recognize God's authority in our lives today?

Setting the Scene

The eighth plague is about to descend on Egypt. Through Moses, God warns Pharaoh that locusts will flood every house— “something your fathers and grandfathers never saw” (Exodus 10:6). The announcement is literal, specific, and unavoidable. By walking out on Pharaoh, Moses silently underscores a truth that still stands: God’s authority is final, whether acknowledged or not.

Why Exodus 10:6 Matters for Us

• Divine warnings are precise, not vague. God tells Pharaoh exactly what will happen and when.

• The prophecy is tied to history—locusts of a magnitude “never seen.” Scripture invites us to trust its plain record of God’s acts.

• Moses leaves without negotiation. God’s word is not up for debate; obedience or rebellion are the only options.

Recognizing God’s Authority in Our Daily Lives

• Submit to His written Word. “All Scripture is God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16). Treat every command and promise as binding today.

• Respect His moral boundaries. Like Pharaoh, we face choices that reveal whether we honor or resist God’s rule (1 Samuel 15:22).

• Acknowledge His right to judge. The locust plague warns that consequences follow disobedience (Hebrews 10:30–31).

• Look for God’s hand in history and nature. The same Creator who controlled Egypt’s climate still governs the seasons (Job 37:6-13; Psalm 24:1).

• Yield to Christ’s universal authority. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me” (Matthew 28:18). Listening to Jesus is listening to God.

• Honor God-ordained human authorities unless they contradict His commands (Romans 13:1; Acts 5:29).

Practical Responses

• Daily Bible intake—reading and doing what it says.

• Prompt confession when the Spirit exposes resistance.

• Grateful remembrance of past deliverances; they prove God keeps His word.

• Regular worship that declares, “The LORD, He is God” (Deuteronomy 4:39).

• Active trust: stepping out in obedience even when consequences seem daunting, just as Moses confronted Pharaoh.

Scripture Echoes

Psalm 33:8-9 – “Let all the earth fear the LORD… He spoke, and it came to be.”

James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Hebrews 12:28 – “Let us offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.”

By recognizing His voice in Scripture, His rights as Creator, and His lordship through Christ, we stand where Moses stood—certain that God’s authority is supreme and eternal.
