How does God care for us deeply?
What does "even the hairs of your head" reveal about God's care for us?

Opening the Text

Matthew 10:29-31: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Luke 12:6-7: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

God’s Intimate Knowledge

• He tracks what most of us never bother to count. Every hair—past, present, or about to grow—is known.

Psalm 139:1-4 affirms this same microscopic awareness: “You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways.”

• Such knowledge is continual, not a one-time tally. Hair falls out daily, yet the number remains current with Him.

God’s Personal Valuation

• If He bothers with hair, how much more with the heart and soul behind that hair.

• Sparrows were virtually worthless in the market, yet not one slips by unnoticed. We are declared “worth more than many sparrows.”

Isaiah 49:16: “Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.” The same hands that number hair engrave our names.

God’s Constant Protection

• Knowing isn’t passive. The context is persecution and fear; His numbering underscores active guardianship.

2 Thessalonians 3:3: “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”

• Because He controls even what seems random—hair loss, bird flights—nothing can strike us without passing through His sovereign care.

Everyday Encouragement

• Security: We rest in a God too detailed to miss a follicle, too loving to overlook a tear.

• Identity: Worth is defined by His appraisal, not culture’s shifting scales; He counts because we count.

• Courage: “Do not be afraid.” The command is grounded in facts, not feelings—He sees, knows, and values us continually.

Living This Truth

• Cast today’s cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). He who weighs galaxies also tallies hair; no burden is too small.

• Thank Him for His minute-by-minute involvement; gratitude deepens trust.

• Walk forward unafraid, convinced that the One who numbers hairs governs every step (Psalm 37:23).
