How does this show our duty to God?
What does "Master, you entrusted me" reveal about our accountability to God?

The Verse in Focus

“ ‘Master, you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ ” (Matthew 25:20)

Entrusted, Not Given Away

• The word “entrusted” signals stewardship.

• Talents belonged to the master; the servant held them on the master’s terms.

Psalm 24:1 reminds us, “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof.” Everything we possess is on loan from Him.

Stewardship in Every Area of Life

What the Master entrusts:

• Time and opportunities (Ephesians 5:15-16)

• Abilities and spiritual gifts (1 Peter 4:10)

• Wealth and possessions (Proverbs 3:9)

• The gospel message itself (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)

Accountability Is Certain

• The servant reports back—no avoidance, no excuses.

Romans 14:12: “So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

Luke 12:48 reinforces the principle: “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded.”

Faithfulness Over Amounts

• The master praises faithfulness, not size of return (Matthew 25:21).

1 Corinthians 4:2: “Now it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

• God measures obedience, diligence, and heart attitude.

The Master’s Joy and Reward

• The faithful servant hears, “Well done… Enter into the joy of your master.”

• Accountability is not merely examination; it opens the door to reward and deeper fellowship.

Revelation 22:12 shows Christ coming “with My reward, to repay each one according to what he has done.”

Living Out the Truth Today

• View every resource as belonging to God first.

• Invest talents—spiritual, relational, financial—for kingdom impact.

• Serve with anticipation of giving a joyful account.

• Remember: faithful stewardship today prepares us for greater responsibility and everlasting joy tomorrow.
