How to apply sacrifice daily?
How can we apply the principles of sacrifice in our daily lives?

A Welcome Glimpse into Leviticus 1:2

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘When any of you brings an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of livestock from the herd or the flock.’”

Key Principles Drawn from the Verse

• Any person may draw near: “When any of you brings an offering…” invites voluntary, individual action.

• Approach God intentionally: “Brings” implies purposeful movement toward Him.

• Offer what He prescribes: livestock “from the herd or the flock” shows obedience to God’s stated will.

• Give something of worth: animals represented livelihood and cost.

• Place it fully in God’s hands: the whole burnt offering was consumed on the altar (v. 9), symbolizing total surrender.

New-Testament Echoes

Romans 12:1—“Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…”

Hebrews 13:15-16—“Through Jesus, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise… And do not neglect to do good and to share…”

1 Peter 2:5—Believers are “a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

Translating Sacrifice into Daily Life

1. Give God the first and best

 • Time: start the day in Scripture and prayer (Psalm 5:3).

 • Energy: dedicate talents to serve His purposes at work, school, and home (Colossians 3:23-24).

2. Let it cost you something (2 Samuel 24:24)

 • Forgo convenience to meet another’s need.

 • Choose integrity when it may hinder personal gain.

3. Offer continual praise (Hebrews 13:15)

 • Speak well of God in ordinary conversations.

 • Sing, journal, or pray gratitude during commutes, chores, workouts.

4. Practice generous sharing (Hebrews 13:16)

 • Budget for giving before spending on extras.

 • Share meals, tools, skills, or listening ears.

5. Live set apart

 • Reject entertainment or habits that dull holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16).

 • Obey quickly when Scripture corrects attitudes or actions (John 14:15).

A Simple Checklist for the Week

□ Did I consciously give God my first moments today?

□ Have I thanked Him aloud in the past 24 hours?

□ Where did following Jesus cost me time, money, comfort, or reputation?

□ Whom have I served or encouraged without expecting return?

□ Am I guarding purity in thought, media, and relationships?

Encouragement to Keep Going

Sacrifice in Leviticus began with willing hearts bringing valuable offerings. Each day we mirror that pattern: voluntarily approaching the Lord, surrendering what matters to us, and trusting Him to turn our daily acts into an aroma pleasing to Him (Ephesians 5:2).
