How to conquer spiritual battles today?
How can we "conquer kingdoms" in our spiritual battles today?

Conquering Kingdoms—Hebrews 11:33

“who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and obtained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions”

What It Meant for the Heroes of Faith

• Joshua brought Canaan’s fortified cities to their knees by marching in obedience (Joshua 6).

• Gideon toppled Midianite oppression with only three hundred men (Judges 7).

• David subdued Philistine strongholds and united Israel under one throne (2 Samuel 8).

Each victory happened in real time and space, yet the writer of Hebrews points to faith as the decisive factor, not numerical strength or military skill.

The Spiritual Battles We Face Now

• Our struggle is “against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).

• Invisible kingdoms—ideologies, temptations, demonic strategies—war against minds, families, churches, and communities.

• The fight is won with spiritual weapons, never by fleshly means (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).

Four Ways to Conquer Spiritual Kingdoms Today

1. Anchor everything in faith

– “Everyone born of God overcomes the world, and the victory that has overcome the world is this: our faith” (1 John 5:4).

– Faith chooses to treat God’s Word as final, overriding feelings or cultural pressure.

2. Wear the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–18)

– Belt of truth: renounce every lie.

– Breastplate of righteousness: guard the heart through daily obedience.

– Gospel shoes: carry a ready witness that pushes darkness back.

– Shield of faith: extinguish fiery darts of doubt, fear, and accusation.

– Helmet of salvation: rest securely in Christ’s finished work.

– Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God: speak Scripture aloud against every assault.

3. Pray persistently in the Spirit

– Kingdoms fall when believers intercede “with all perseverance and petition for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:18).

– Persistent, Scripture-shaped prayer dismantles strongholds behind the scenes.

4. Walk in courageous obedience

– Joshua circled Jericho; Gideon smashed jars; these actions looked foolish yet released divine power.

– Present-day obedience—loving an enemy, confessing sin, giving sacrificially—carries the same conquering force.

Promises to Fuel Perseverance

• “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).

• “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

• “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20).

Encouragement for the Journey

Believers stand in a long line of kingdom-conquerors. The same Lord who parted seas, felled giants, and shut lions’ mouths lives within His people today. Faith receives His Word as unshakable reality, prayer calls heaven’s power to earth, obedience opens doors no human effort can budge. Stay armored, stay steadfast, and watch spiritual kingdoms fall.
