How to embrace childlike faith?
What attitudes should we adopt to embrace childlike faith as Jesus taught?

Setting the Scene

Mark 10:13: “Now people were bringing little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, and the disciples rebuked those who brought them.”

The disciples thought the children were a distraction. Jesus showed that they were a living illustration of how every believer must come to Him.

Seeing Children Through Jesus’ Eyes

• Jesus receives children gladly (Mark 10:14) and declares the kingdom belongs to such as these.

• He physically embraces them and blesses them (Mark 10:16), proving that the least in society matter deeply to Him.

• He warns that entering God’s kingdom requires the same posture a child naturally displays (Mark 10:15).

Attitudes of Childlike Faith

• Humble Dependence

– Children know they cannot provide for themselves; believers admit complete reliance on the Father (Matthew 18:3–4).

• Trusting Simplicity

– A child rests in a parent’s word; so we trust God’s promises without reservation (Proverbs 3:5; Hebrews 11:1).

• Receptive Teachability

– Children are eager learners; disciples crave pure spiritual milk of the Word (1 Peter 2:2).

• Unpretentious Honesty

– A child is transparent; followers confess sin and walk in the light (1 John 1:9).

• Joyful Wonder

– Children delight in discovery; believers rejoice in the Father’s daily mercies (Psalm 118:24).

• Quick Obedience

– Children respond promptly to a loving parent; we respond swiftly to Scripture’s commands (James 1:22).

• Peaceful Security

– Like a weaned child resting with its mother, we quiet our souls before God (Psalm 131:2).

Practical Ways to Nurture These Attitudes

• Start each day acknowledging need: “Father, I depend on You for everything.”

• Read Scripture expectantly, believing He will speak.

• Obey the first clear directive the Word gives, before seeking more insight.

• Celebrate small answers to prayer, keeping a record of God’s faithfulness.

• Simplify spiritual routines—remove performance, focus on relationship.

• Spend time with literal children; observe their trust and ask God to replicate it in your heart.

• Choose gratitude over grumbling, turning daily moments into praise.

Living Out the Lesson

A childlike heart stands at the center of kingdom life. By humbly depending on the Father, trusting His Word, and rejoicing in His care, believers mirror the posture Jesus blessed in Mark 10:13–16 and walk confidently into the embrace of their King.
