How to emulate Jesus daily?
How can we show similar dedication to Jesus in our daily lives?

The Scene of Devotion

“When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so they could go and anoint Jesus’ body.” – Mark 16:1

Key Marks of the Women’s Dedication

• Prompt obedience: as soon as Sabbath restrictions lift, they move.

• Personal cost: spices were expensive; they willingly pay it.

• Courage under pressure: authorities had executed Jesus, yet they approach the guarded tomb.

• Humble service: anointing a corpse was lowly, unseen work done out of pure love.

• Single-minded focus: rising early while others sleep (cf. Luke 24:1) shows priority.

Practical Ways to Mirror Their Dedication Today

• Start the day with Him. Set the alarm a little earlier to read and respond to Scripture before any other task (Psalm 119:112).

• Offer costly worship. Give sacrificially of money, talents, and time (Romans 12:1; John 12:3).

• Serve when no one notices. Quiet acts—cleaning the church kitchen, writing encouragement notes—are fragrant to Christ (Colossians 3:23).

• Stand for Him publicly. Speak His name with respect at work or school, refusing silence born of fear (Acts 4:20; 1 Corinthians 15:58).

• Keep gathering with believers. Regular corporate worship and fellowship fuel devotion (Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:42).

• Pursue holiness in daily choices. Entertainment, relationships, and ethics all become arenas for loyalty to Jesus (Matthew 6:33).

Other Scriptural Snapshots of Whole-Hearted Devotion

Luke 7:37-38 – the “sinful woman” pours perfume and tears on His feet.

John 12:3 – Mary of Bethany breaks a costly jar for Him.

2 Timothy 4:7 – Paul finishes his race, keeping the faith.

Each story underscores that love for Christ overflows in tangible, sometimes risky action.

Staying Consistent When It’s Hard

• Remember the resurrection promise that follows Mark 16:1; labor for a living Lord, not a memory.

• Lean on His strength: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).

• Keep eternity in view: present sacrifices are “not worthy to be compared with the glory to be revealed” (Romans 8:18).

Motivation Rooted in the Gospel

The women moved toward a tomb they thought was sealed; we serve a Savior who has already walked out of it. His finished work fuels persevering, joyful, visible dedication every single day.
