How can we apply the Queen's example of seeking wisdom in our lives? The Queen’s Journey for Wisdom “Then she gave the king 120 talents of gold, a very large quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was such abundance of spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.” (2 Chronicles 9:9) What Drove Her Search? • She believed Solomon’s wisdom came from God (v. 8). • She traveled nearly 1,500 miles—costly, risky, exhausting. • She brought generous gifts, showing honor and humility. • She stayed long enough to test Solomon with “hard questions” (v. 1). Lessons for Us Today 1. Prioritize the Pursuit • Set aside comfort and convenience. • Make room in schedules, budgets, and plans for Bible intake and godly counsel. 2. Seek the Source, Not the Spotlight • Christ is “greater than Solomon” (Matthew 12:42). • Go first to Him through Scripture and prayer before turning to human experts. 3. Costly Commitment Is Worth It • “Buy the truth and do not sell it” (Proverbs 23:23). • Invest time, energy, and resources in solid teaching, Christian books, and local church life. 4. Ask the Hard Questions • Bring doubts and puzzles to God’s Word; it can handle scrutiny. • “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105) Where True Wisdom Is Found • “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6) • “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5) • “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 9:10) Cultivating a Heart That Values Wisdom • Daily Bible reading plan—systematic, cover-to-cover. • Memorize and meditate on key passages. • Consistent prayer for discernment in choices, relationships, and priorities. • Fellowship with believers who exemplify godly insight (Proverbs 13:20). Sharing the Fruit of Wisdom • The queen’s gifts enriched Solomon’s kingdom; likewise, wisdom gained is to be given. • Speak truth in love to family, church, workplace (Ephesians 4:15). • Mentor younger believers, modeling dependence on God’s Word (Titus 2:3-5). Living It Out • Start each day asking, “Lord, order my steps in Your wisdom.” • Evaluate decisions by Scripture, not trends. • Celebrate and testify when God’s guidance proves trustworthy. |
