In what ways can we actively live out our anointing in Christ? Our Shared Anointing in Christ “Now it is God who establishes both us and you in Christ. He anointed us” (2 Corinthians 1:21). If you are in Christ, the same God who planted you firmly in His Son has also poured His anointing on you—setting you apart, empowering you, and sealing you for His purposes. What the Anointing Means • Set apart for God’s service (1 Peter 2:9) • Indwelt and empowered by the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38; John 14:16-17) • Taught inwardly by the Spirit of truth (1 John 2:20, 27) • Secured with a divine seal guaranteeing future inheritance (2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13-14) Ways to Actively Live It Out • Rest in your new identity – Reject condemning thoughts; stand on Romans 8:1. – Daily thank God that you are “a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9). • Abide in Spirit-led obedience – Stay in Scripture; the anointing resonates with God’s written Word. – Quickly submit when the Spirit convicts (James 1:22-25). • Exercise God-given gifts – Identify your spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). – Use them to build up the body—serve, teach, encourage, give, lead. • Speak truth saturated with grace – Share the gospel (Isaiah 61:1; Matthew 28:19-20). – Offer Scripture-anchored counsel in everyday conversations (Colossians 3:16). • Walk in the fruit of the Spirit – Choose love, joy, peace, patience… (Galatians 5:22-23). – Let relationships be the stage where the anointing shines. • Serve with Jesus-shaped compassion – Meet practical needs: feed, visit, comfort (Matthew 25:35-40). – Remember you are “created in Christ Jesus to do good works” (Ephesians 2:10). • Stand firm for holiness – Guard heart and mind from worldly compromise (2 Timothy 2:21-22). – Model purity so others see Christ’s transforming power. Guarding and Growing in the Anointing • Stay filled with the Spirit—continual surrender (Ephesians 5:18). • Pray in dependence, knowing power flows from Him, not self (Zechariah 4:6). • Fellowship with believers who stir up love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25). • Fast and worship; both sharpen spiritual sensitivity (Acts 13:2-3). • Refuse false teaching; measure everything against Scripture (Acts 17:11). Encouragement for the Journey The anointing is not a fleeting feeling; it is God’s abiding mark on your life. Lean into it, act on it, and watch Him accomplish more through you than you could ask or imagine. |
