How to prioritize God's will over ours?
In what ways can we prioritize God's will over our own plans?

Life Is a Mist: Gaining Perspective (James 4:14)

“You do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

- Our time is brief and uncertain; God’s plan is eternal and sure.

- Recognizing this contrast motivates a humble posture: “Lord, Your agenda first.”

Submitting Plans to God’s Sovereign Will

- Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.”

- Romans 12:1–2 calls us to offer ourselves as “a living sacrifice,” letting God transform our thinking.

- By daily surrender, we trade fragile human blueprints for His faultless design.

Practical Ways to Prioritize God’s Will

- Start each day with Scripture before schedules.

• Read, reflect, and note one truth to guide decisions.

- Pray over plans, not just problems (Philippians 4:6–7).

• Invite God to affirm, redirect, or cancel activities.

- Hold calendars loosely.

• Leave margin for divine interruptions—people in need, spontaneous ministry.

- Seek counsel from mature believers (Proverbs 15:22).

• God often clarifies His will through the body of Christ.

- Measure goals by kingdom value.

• Ask: Does this advance righteousness, serve others, and honor Christ?

- Obey immediately when Scripture speaks plainly.

• Delayed obedience is functional unbelief.

- Cultivate contentment.

Hebrews 13:5 reminds us God Himself is our sufficiency; this frees us from striving after self-made outcomes.

Scriptural Examples of Yielded Lives

- Abraham left Ur “not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8).

- David waited for God’s timing to become king, refusing shortcuts (1 Samuel 24).

- Mary submitted to God’s plan—“May it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38).

- Jesus in Gethsemane: “Yet not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). He modeled perfect surrender.

Encouragement to Trust His Perfect Plan

- Proverbs 3:5–6 promises straight paths when we acknowledge Him.

- Matthew 6:33 assures provision as we “seek first the kingdom of God.”

- Psalm 37:5: “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.”

When life feels like vapor, anchoring every intention to God’s revealed will brings clarity, peace, and eternal impact.
