How to recognize God's control in life?
What practical steps can we take to acknowledge God's control over our circumstances?

Context for Job 39:28

“Does the eagle soar at your command and make his nest on high? He dwells on a rock and lodges there, on a rocky crag and rugged summit.” (Job 39:27–28)

God points to the eagle’s lofty nest to remind Job that even the heights of creation lie under His direction. The bird’s confidence in its perch illustrates how securely all things rest in the Lord’s hands.

Seeing Life from the Rock, Not the Valley

• The eagle’s perspective is elevated; ours becomes clear when we look up rather than around (Colossians 3:1–2).

• He “lodges” where storms cannot reach—an image of God’s unshakable sovereignty (Psalm 91:1-2).

• Recognizing that God alone placed the eagle there helps us acknowledge that He also orders every detail of our lives (Matthew 10:29-31).

Practical Steps to Acknowledge God’s Control

1. Daily Surrender

• Begin each morning confessing, “Your will be done” (Matthew 6:10).

• Hand today’s schedule back to Him—every appointment, surprise, or delay.

2. Anchor in Scripture

• Meditate on passages that declare His rule: Psalm 103:19; Proverbs 16:9; Romans 8:28.

• Write one verse on a card or phone lock screen; revisit it whenever anxiety rises.

3. Practice Thankful Recollection

• List past situations God turned for good.

• Regular gratitude trains the heart to see His fingerprints in current circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

4. Obey Promptly

• When Scripture or the Spirit highlights a step, act without delay (James 1:22-25).

• Quick obedience declares, “God knows best; I don’t have to.”

5. Speak Trust Out Loud

• When uncertainty looms, vocalize truths such as Proverbs 3:5-6.

• Hearing your own voice line up with Scripture steadies the mind.

6. Hold Plans Loosely

• Plan responsibly, but preface everything with “If the Lord wills” (James 4:13-15).

• View interruptions as divine redirections, not obstacles.

7. Rest, Don’t Strive

• Set aside regular Sabbath rhythms—moments to cease work and acknowledge His rule (Exodus 20:8-11).

• Physical rest acts as a tangible reminder that outcomes depend on God, not sheer human effort.

8. Lean on Community

• Share burdens with believers who will point you back to God’s sovereignty (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Hearing testimonies of His control in others’ lives reinforces your own trust.

Living Above the Storm

Like the eagle secure on its crag, the believer who practices these steps learns to view every circumstance—from triumphs to trials—through the lens of a God who reigns unchallenged. The more consciously we acknowledge His control, the higher our perspective rises, and the steadier our hearts become.

How can we trust God's wisdom in our lives, as seen in Job 39:28?
